Foundation safety and rescue training.

The Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course is intended for all paddlers, coaches and volunteers, irrespective of craft or discipline choice, and is available in either bank-based or boat-based options.

It provides training on key skills needed to operate safely and deal with common emergencies in a sheltered water environment. These skills then form the foundations for safety and rescue throughout British Canoeing Awarding Body awards.

White water safety and rescue.

Advanced water leader

The Advanced White Water Safety and Rescue training course is specifically designed around the needs of white water paddlers. It develops on the principles and techniques taught in the White Water Safety and Rescue training course, and considers their application in the advanced environment.

Costal navigation and tidal planning

The Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning Training is designed for those paddlers carrying out coastal journeys including islands up to 2 nautical miles offshore in areas of tidal movement up to 2 knots and is a prerequisite for those seeking their British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader Award.  However, anyone wishing to undertake journeys on the sea using a kayak would find the technical and theoretical aspects not only useful, but essential for safe travel in the marine environment! This course is designed to complement the areas covered in the British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader Training.

Open water navigation and tidal planning

The Open Water Navigation and Tidal Planning training is designed for paddlers carrying out open water journeys including islands over 2 nautical miles offshore in areas of strong tidal movement of 3+ knots and/or including winds of up to force 5. It gives candidates the skills to be able to plan and navigate safely in advanced water environments through the use of practical planning.
